A native of Kennett, Missouri, Wilder graduated magna cum laude from Southeast Missouri State University with a bachelor's degree in business administration, and he has received the university's Alumni Merit Award. He earned a master's degree in business administration from the University of Texas.

C. John Wilder is the Executive Chairman and Chairman of the Investment Committee of three energy investment companies or funds: (i) Bluescape Energy Partners (ii) Parallel Resource Partners and (iii) Bluescape Resources Company.

Wilder is Chairman of many of the portfolio company boards. He assembled a high-quality investment team capable of creating substantial value through in-depth knowledge of global energy markets and long-term relationships. He implemented disciplined investment decision-making and top-quality management processes, and has employed active portfolio management with the ability to step in and operate any portfolio company.

Wilder started in the energy business in Texas almost 40 years ago with the Royal Dutch Shell, where he rose to the position of Chief Executive Officer of Shell Capital in London.

As Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer at TXU Corp; (Now Energy Futures Holdings Corporation), Wilder directed a total financial and operational overhaul that transformed one of the nation's largest energy companies over a four-year period from a bottom-quartile regulated monopoly to a competitive, high-performance industrial enterprise. TXU delivered annualized total shareholder returns of 65% -- placing 5th among the S&P 500--and created over $32 billion of shareholder value. Earlier, as chief financial officer at Entergy Corporation; Entergy achieved total shareholder returns of 147%, exceeding the S&P 500 by 18-fold.

Wilder is on the Advisory Council of the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin and the Business School Council of the A.B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University. Wilder is also a Trustee of Texas Health Resources and a past member of the National Petroleum Council; a U.S. Secretary of Energy appointment.
